There's a stamp for that #39: Birds, hello, transportation

 Hello everyone!

I'm exctied to be kicking of challenge 39 of the There's a stamp for that facebook group.

I searched all over for a bird using some sort of transportation, when I came across the digital stamp Cockatoo Rules!by the Paper shelter.

The paper shelter just happens to be having inspired by a movie challenge on their blog, so I decided to use Mad Max Fury Road as my inspiration for the colours.

I coloured him up in the following copic markers:

Yellow: Y11, Y02, Y15, Y32, shading VO1

Aqua: BG11, BG13, BG15, BG49 shading R43

Black: W0, W5, W8,  undertone E77, E79 to darken up the blend

Beige: E30, E31, E53, shading BV31

white gel pen

I then decided on a tone on tone grunge look for the background and used up a bunch of paper strips that I distressed the edges to add a bit of dimension and more grungy look.

I die cut a pattern paper zig zag circle for my cockatoo. At this point I knew I wanted to add some more colour to the background, so I took acryla gouache in ice green and splattered it onto the background, I love how much it showed up on the dark paper!

I printed the sentiment and cut it out with my silhouette as I needed it to have a hello (I chose hi instead) for the challenge. Looking back at it I think a good one would be g'day mate! since Cockatoo's are from Australia, and would have worked well with the movie I chose.. oh well next time!

I decided it need a little bit of shiny so I added little confetti stars in the background that reflect yellow and aqua in the light.

I'm happy overall with this card, and I think it was fun to step out of my girly/whimsical/ cute comfort zone for this one..... I definitely need more masculine cards, but don't always know how to go about making them.
